Ridván is a twelve-day festival in the Bahá'í Faith, running from sunset on April, 20th until sunset on May, 2nd. The festival commemorates Bahá'u'lláh's public declaration of His mission to His followers. This declaration took place in the garden of Najíb Páshá in 1863, and is one of the seminal events in Bahá'í History. Bahá'u'lláh stated that on the first day of Ridván all things were purified and that, 'the breezes of forgiveness were wafted over the entire creation.' Ridván is the most holy Bahá'í festival, and Bahá'u'lláh referred to it as the 'Most Great Festival' and the 'King of Festivals'. The first, ninth and twelfth days of Ridván are Bahá'í Holy Days on which work should be suspended.
