A mthqál is a unit of weight used in the measurement of gold and silver. The weight of the mthqál was adjusted downward by the Báb and this adjustment was confirmed by Bahá'u'lláh. In the Bahá'í Faith, the mithqál is the unit used for determining dowry and Ḥuqúqu'lláh payments. One mithqál is equal to 3.642 grams, or 0.1171 troy ounces.
