What is the Bahá'í Glossary?

The Bahá'í vocabulary has many Arabic and Persian words that may be unfamiliar to non-native speakers and newcomers to the Bahá'í Faith. This glossary is designed to help Bahá'ís learn to pronounce these words according to the pronunciation guide established and promoted by Shoghí Effendí.

میرزا موسى
Brother of Bahá'u'lláh

Mírzá Músá (c. 1820-1887) was the younger brother of Bahá'u'lláh. He was loyal to Bahá'u'lláh throughout his life and accompanied Bahá'u'lláh in exile, serving in different capacities as the situation required. Mírzá Músá was present when Bahá'u'lláh first received correspondence from the Báb and, at the direction of Bahá'u'lláh, assisted in hiding the remains of the Báb after the Báb's execution. Bahá'u'lláh said of him that he was one of only two people who were adequately informed about the origins of the Faith. Mírzá Músá died in 'Akká in 1887. Shoghi Effendi named him as one of the nineteen apostles of Bahá'u'lláh. Mírzá Músá is often referred to by his surname, Áqáy-i-Kalím, in Bahá'í texts.
