What is the Bahá'í Glossary?

The Bahá'í vocabulary has many Arabic and Persian words that may be unfamiliar to non-native speakers and newcomers to the Bahá'í Faith. This glossary is designed to help Bahá'ís learn to pronounce these words according to the pronunciation guide established and promoted by Shoghí Effendí.

Mázindarán is a province in northern Írán, bordering the Caspian Sea, and is the ancestral homeland of Bahá’u’lláh. Bahá’u’lláh’s family resided in the village of Tákur in the district of Núr (one of the regions of Mázindarán). The climate of Mázindarán is sub-tropical and is markedly different from the arid climate of much of the rest of Írán.
