Kurdistán is a geocultural region in which the Kurdish people and culture predominate. The region does not follow national boundaries and includes parts of present-day Turkey, Iráq, Írán and Syria. Bahá'u'lláh spent two years in solitude in the mountains of Kurdistán from 1854 to 1856. Upon His return to Baghdád, Bahá'u'lláh wrote The Seven Valleys and the Four Valleys in reply to a letter He received from a prominent Sufi He had come into contact with while in Kurdistán.
