What is the Bahá'í Glossary?

Considered to be one of the cradles of civilization, Iráq has been home to successive civilizations for over 8000 years. From 1533 to 1918, most of what is now Iráq was a province of the Ottoman Empire. It was this province that Bahá'u'lláh's chose as His place of exile after His release from the Síyáh-Chál. He was a resident Baghdád, its capital city, from 1853 to 1854 and again from 1856 until 1863. Modern Iráq covers an area of 169,234 square miles (438,317 sq km) and shares a border with six nations: Írán, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
