The Maiden Tower in Baku, AzerbaijanA province in northwest Persia. Máh-kú and Chihríq are both in Ádhirbáyján and the provincial capital is Tabríz. The Báb spent the last three years of His life in the province. He was first imprisoned in the fortress in Máh-kú for nine months and then transferred to Chihríq before being sent to Tabríz to stand trial. After the trial, held in July of 1848, the Báb was transferred back to Chihríq. He was executed in Tabríz on July 8/9 of 1850.
